Hello! My name is Allison Miller and I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2015.
I was raised in Ponca City and earned my Associates of Arts in social sciences from Northern Oklahoma College, my Bachelors of Science in psychology from Oklahoma State University, and my Masters in Counseling from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. I have worked with youth, adults, and families in the Kay County area since 2013.
As human beings, we are going to experience trauma or severe life stressors and this sometimes causes our lives to feel off kilter. As a counselor, I work to provide individuals with the skills and understanding to heal from their negative life experiences and work toward living their best life. I work to help clients find an optimistic view of how they can grow from their experiences and live their best life. I specialize in working with adolescents, adults, couples and families to find healthy coping skills, improve communication skills, and strengthen their relationships so that they can feel peaceful, whole, and safe.
I understand that no single therapeutic approach is right for everyone; therefore, I utilize an integrative approach that includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, person-centered therapy, and family systems therapy. I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. When working with couples, I utilize a Gottman Method approach. One of my passions is working with women and fertility – I have done some extra training in maternal mood disorders.
Along with counseling services, I provide educational and guidance services for other counselors in Oklahoma as I am also an approved LPC Supervisor for the state of Oklahoma.
Appointments available Monday – Friday. Please contact me at 580-762-6511 to schedule an appointment. I accept most major insurances and private pay.
